Infrastructure & Repairs
Everything that starts with a request to the IT department — network points, wireless coverage, equipment repair and disposing of old hardware.
Opening a TMR request
TMR is the IT department ticketing system. Almost every request on this site starts with a TMR ticket — worth reading once.
Connecting a computer or device to the wired network
A computer, printer, Mac, iPad — anything that plugs into a network cable on campus. First decide whether it is right for you, then there are three steps.
Installing a new network point
A new network socket where there is none. The process moves between TMR and Anant and back — six steps, and it helps to know the order in advance.
Adding a wireless access point (Wi-Fi)
To improve wireless coverage in an area that has none — a lab, a corridor or a remote room.
Activating an existing network point
There is a socket in the wall, you plugged in a cable, and nothing happens. In most cases the point simply is not activated.
Paid repair of a computer, monitor or printer
Equipment out of warranty that broke. Two routes — through the university, or a private technician with reimbursement.
Disposing of old equipment
A computer, monitor or printer no longer in use. You cannot simply throw it away — inventoried equipment must be written off with a form.
