LabVIEW

Bar-Ilan site licence. The serial number is not published — it is sent individually by email.

  • Approx. 45 min
  • Windows
  1. Get the serial number

    🔑 Need the serial?

The LabVIEW serial number is given individually to department staff and students, and is not published.

    Request the serial by email

Reply within one working day. No documents needed.

Restricted use — The licence covers university users only. NI tracks usage of this number.
  2. Download the installer

    • From the Bar-Ilan network — network drive: \\escfiler.esc.biu.ac.il\Software\Software\LabVIEW (how to reach the server).
    • From NIthe downloads page. Free registration is required — you must use a Bar-Ilan email address.
  3. Install

    1. Run setup and follow the prompts.
    2. Select the modules you need — the defaults are enough for most work.
    3. Restart when it finishes.
  4. Enter the serial number

This is where everyone gets stuck — Enter the serial in NI License Manager — not in the dialog that pops up when you open LabVIEW.
    1. Open StartNI License Manager.
    2. Click Activate (or Add License).
    3. Enter the number in the Serial Number field.
    4. Choose Online Activation — not Offline.
    5. Sign in with the NI account you created with your Bar-Ilan email.
  5. Verify

Open LabVIEW → HelpAbout. An active licence with an expiry date should be shown.

  6. Troubleshooting

    • "Activation code is invalid" — the number went into the wrong place. It is a serial number in License Manager, not an activation code in the LabVIEW dialog.
    • The serial is rejected or expired — the licence renews yearly. Ask for an updated number.
    • Only "Connect to license server" is offered — close that dialog and use NI License Manager (step 4).
    • Offline Activation asks for a code — quit, check your internet connection, and choose Online Activation.
  7. Free training

The site licence includes NI training courses for students and staff — NI Learning (sign in with your NI account).
